Spring 2009

Hello everyone and welcome to Spring - it's finally arrived... just in time for summer :-)
Some of you may have heard of the 'economic meltdown' through which we are all suffering. By 'some of you' I mean of course everyone. Not surprisingly this has affected the entertainment industry in a big way and as a result we are going through a quiet period with few gigs. This is unfortunate as The Pride loves to perform and while we do have gigs they are fewer and further between than we'd like. This being the case we're taking the opportunity to make some changes to the show, not so much because we need to but because we want to. We like to keep the show fresh and exciting for ourselves as well as our audiences. To this end we are adding choreography to more of our songs and developping more audience participation dances and games.
That said I will mention one of the shows we performed recently. More often than not when we perform it is for a crowd more or less from the same place, be they locals or out-of-towners holding a convention in the Montreal area. Our show for CALAS, held at the Hilton Bonaventure, was a lot of fun in part because we had people from all over Canada so we played an even greater variety of styles than usual, satisfying the musical preferences enjoyed coast-to-coast. The event was planned & carried out by Jaqui Sullivan and Khadijah Jamal of Absolute Conferences & Events, based in Toronto. Both ladies were professional and a real pleasure to work with and we hope to do so again at future events. If you'd like to see some photos go to www.theprideband.com/pics.html and click on the 'corporate 14' link.
Coming up next for The Pride is a duo event that will be performed by Kevin Farrington and me in the northern part of Montreal this Saturday (May 9, 2009). Hopefully I'll have some photos of that event to post as well.
That's it for now but check back in from time to time for more on The Pride.
Ciao,
Marc C.
