Holiday Season 2008

I thought I'd write a few words about our holiday season of 2008. While the entertainment industry as a whole was suffering rather badly along with the rest of the economy, we nonetheless managed to have a fair number of gigs throughout November and December, with Christmas parties even extending into January of 2009. Though less busy than last year we still kept our enthusiasm and energy levels up as we performed for the various corporate shows.
Of particular note for the third year in a row the Chateau Bromont had hired us to play for the big New Year's Eve party. This year's party was set up a little differently from previous years in that a cocktail was held in a different room, one floor above the main ballroom, and the supper was actually buffet-style. We performed as a duo for the cocktails, alternating between three singers accompanied by Kevin Farrington on guitar. We then raced upstairs to take the stage for the supper set. I think I abused my band mates a bit by stretching that set to one hour and 45 minutes, but I wanted to make sure the crowd had entertainment while waiting for their table to be called to the buffet. We played a bit louder and with more up-tempo songs than usual for supper but I had a feeling many people wanted to dance even during the meal time. And they did! Very enthusiastically, I might add. When that set was over we took a short break, changed into our first dancing set clothes and really let loose. From then on it was a wild party that stretched past the midnight countdown and went all the way to 1:30 AM. What a blast!
That's all the news I have for the time being but as always feel free to check out the photos of some of our holiday parties at www.theprideband.com/pics.html. See you next time.
